So after 7 years still for sale..the tayne, duthac and the tarlogan. Bought all 3 for around 210 euro combined let's give a try. Also bought the 12 y old malaga, 13 y old cognac 12 y old palo cortado 12 y old amontillado, And the 12 y old calvados cask. Lot's of tasting to do..😮

The silent still components are Brora. An extremely beautiful and now expensive single malt.

It's still not expensive. A liter of 20yo for 80 euros is just great

Cask variations used here are: Limousine virgin oak and ex-bourbon casks (1st fill and 2nd fill).

No matter the cost, Lagavulin 16 remains a huge favourite no matter how many outstanding single malt whiskies that I enjoy. I hate colouring and chill filtering and I would like to see that change but nonetheless, even at $165.00 now in Canada, where I live, I always replace it for my bar! This is a fabulous single malt. Terrific score!! 🙂

Mixing Cola with Lagavulin ought to be a sackable offense. Likewise, I wasn't amused with this series of official Glencadam videos featuring 10 and 15 YO based cocktail suggestions. By all means, use the NAS Entry level releases for your cocktails but does the company ambassador really think that the distillery workers appreciate that after 10 years plus of nurturing these wonderful Single malts in the cask with their own unique characters and flavours, that their own ambassador sticks fruit juice and other stuff in them, over a mountain of ice? Anyway, I much appreciate your tasting notes which goes some way to indicating cask types which were used. The label states "Rejuvenated and Ex-Bourbon casks" but no more information as to what these rejuvenated casks are. I was chatting with someone who had an exclusive VIP tour of Lagavulin back in 2018, where they were tasting these limited edition 20 + Year Olds, all partially matured in rejuvenated casks. The guide explained that after shaving back and re-charring, they were seasoned with sherry! Indeed, these Lagavulins were dark reddish and had red fruit and spicy flavours. So, are all Lagavulin's rejuvenated casks re-seasoned with sherry? Well, from your tasting notes of this 10 YO, it seems not! Pencil shavings, Lemon, dry, apples and spicy --- indicate having been shaved back and re-charred only. Jason, I trust your tasting notes and you have given no indication of any seasoning in sherry. I have written to the distillery / Diageo for further clarification but am not holding my breath for detailed information from them.

Bells is my favorite blended scotch without dought, its a great benchmark to compare other whiskys with, I get a nutty toffee flavour.

I remember when I first started on my scotch journey. This whisky was touted as a top 5 on a sherry lovers list. The one that caught my attention and thankfully so, was the old version of Glendronach 15. Ended up buying several. Fast fwd to today. This one now has been forgotten or even ignored. Supposedly it’s not as good anymore. Which is ironic since it’s produced by an original family and one that does things traditionally. Has good old casks etc. So not sure why it would have gone by the wayside. In 2023 is it comparable to the current greats ? For example vs Tamdhu 15 or Benromach 15 or even the new Glendronach 15? Is it still good value?

Jason if you ever do a QA , How do i get better at tasting whiskey , i have 3 bottles of Buchanans and 1 Dalmore 12 , to me they kinda all taste the same . I love your channle and one day i wish to be able to taste whiskey like you man !!

I was really disappointed with this one. The mouthfeel is very light, tastes more like vodka than whisky. 0 maltiness, watery mouthfeel. Its a shame because the aftertaste is good but its waaaay to far away in the background. Kind of like if it was 90% 3 year old whisky

I have to say, I picked up a bottle of this and HATED it. Found it oily, leathery, ashy and salt. Paid $90 and wish I could return it. Not in my wheelhouse for flavor. So it's going to sit and be offered to friends. Disappointed.

Great review, I prefer the QC to the 10. I've never tried the select as I would rather pay an extra fiver for the 10.

Nice video with a good review Jason. I'm now to whiskeys have about 13 different bottles but came accross this lakes muscatel the one in a small sample bottle when visiting the lakes. I thought it was amazing g with lots of interesting and non offensive smells and flavours. Just had a look at your other videos.👍 Keep up the good work pal.
